Both the agile and versatile C-segment hatchback, BYD DOLPHIN, and the medium-sized high-performance EV Coupe, BYD SEAL, have achieved an exceptional 5-star safety rating in the latest ANCAP Safety testing standards (Australasian New Car Assessment Program).
This milestone marks a moment of pride for BYD NZ as all vehicles have now achieved the highest ANCAP rating, assuring your safety on every journey.
BYD DOLPHIN ANCAP Ratings:
- Adult Occupant Protection: 89%
- Child Occupant Protection: 86%
- Pedestrian/Vulnerable Road User Protection: 85%
- Safety Assist: 77%
The BYD DOLPHIN offers a commendable mix of Good and Adequate protection for adult occupants, with a special focus on child occupant protection, where it scored maximum points in both frontal and side impact tests.
BYD SEAL ANCAP Ratings:
- Adult Occupant Protection: 89%
- Child Occupant Protection: 87%
- Pedestrian/Vulnerable Road User Protection: 82%
- Safety Assist: 75%
The BYD SEAL also excels in safety, particularly in protecting adult and child passengers. It achieved full points for protection in various impact tests.
Both vehicles come equipped with a center airbag to minimize head contact injuries between front seat occupants and the vehicle's sides during side impact crashes, showcasing their effective protection.
Moreover, under the new 2023 criteria, both BYD models were tested for their ability to detect and warn against cyclists passing the vehicle from the rear. While the BYD DOLPHIN and BYD SEAL are equipped with an anti-dooring system providing an audible warning, neither model features occupant retention (temporary door locking).
In addition to these safety measures, the vehicles also meet the criteria for 'door opening' functionality when submerged in water, ensuring functionality for a minimum of two minutes after a loss of vehicle power.
